Abstract
Turistik destinasyonların taşıma kapasitelerinin aşılmasıyla ortaya çıkan bir sorun olan aşırı turizm turistik bölgelerde altyapı sorunlarının ve çevresel kirliliğin artmasına neden olarak turizmde sürdürülebilirliğin azalmasına ve birçok kültürel mirasın yok olmasına neden olmaktadır. Aydın’ın Kuşadası ilçesi her yıl turizm sezonunda ağırladığı kapasitesinin üzerindeki turist sayısı nedeniyle aşırı turizm olgusunun gözlemlendiği en önemli destinasyonlardan birisidir. Ayrıca, Türkiye’nin önde gelen kruvaziyer turizmi merkezlerinden biri olması ve yoğun kitle turizmi hareketlerine ev sahipliği yapması nedeniyle deniz turizmi açısından da stratejik bir konuma sahiptir. Bu çalışma aşırı turizme maruz kalan Kuşadası’nın sürdürülebilir kalkınma boyutlarını ortaya koymayı ve yerel topluluğun aşırı turizme karşı dayanıklılığını tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın problemini Kuşadası’nda görülen aşırı turizmin sürdürülebilir kalkınmaya etkisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada Kuşadası’ndaki aşırı turizmin olumsuz etkilerinin tespit edilmesi ve sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın gerçekleştirilmesi bakımından turizme katkı sağlaması hedeflenmektedir. Bu makelesinde, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden derinlemesine görüşme tekniği kullanılmış ve veri toplama sürecinde amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi benimsenmiştir. Görüşmelerin deşifre edilmesinin ardından veriler, temalar ve örüntüler belirlenerek içerik analizi yöntemiyle sistematik bir biçimde incelenmiştir. Kuşadası’nda yerel halkın aşırı turizmden önemli ölçüde olumsuz etkilendiği saptanan araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda sürdürülebilir kalkınmaya katkı sağlayabilecek çözüm önerileri tartışılmıştır.

Abstract
Overtourism, a phenomenon occurring when the carrying capacity of tourist destinations exceeds capacity, results in heightened infrastructure issues and environmental degradation in these areas, ultimately diminishing tourism sustainability and jeopardizing numerous cultural heritages. The Kuşadası region of Aydın is a significant location where overtourism is evident, attributed to the high volume of tourists it attracts annually during the peak tourism season. It occupies a crucial location in marine tourism, being one of Turkey's premier cruise tourist hubs and accommodating significant mass tourism activities. This study aims to clarify the sustainable development aspects of Kuşadası, which is subjected to overtourism, and to assess the resilience of the local population in response to overtourism. The study examines the effect of overtourism on sustainable development in Kuşadası. This research study intends to examine the detrimental effects of overtourism in Kuşadası and to improve tourism through the promotion of sustainable development. This study utilized in-depth interviews, a qualitative research method, and employed purposive sampling for data collection. The data was systematically analyzed using content analysis once the interviews were transcribed, with an emphasis on finding themes and patterns. Consistent with the research findings indicating that the local community in Kuşadası is adversely impacted by excessive tourism, proposed solutions that may facilitate sustainable development are discussed.
